About LRG
Co-founded in 1999 in Santa Ana, CA, by Jonas Bevacqua and Robert Wright, Lifted Research Group (LRG) is a creative lifestyle clothing company. Jonas and Robert's vision was to design clothes that represented a variety of influences, a reflection of their environment and interests. Through LRG's success as a brand and inclusive group concept, it has become an outlet to express not only Jonas and Robert's ideas, but also a platform for others to do the same. LRG takes pride in discovering and uncovering new and emerging talent; supporting those that pursue their goals with the same passion that supported its own growth. This concept has always remained the same, it's one that LRG stands beside and looks to share with the world. At LRG we are what we make, we are who we support, and we'll never forget where we come from.
Along with his partner, Robert Wright, Bevacqua started L-R-G in 1999 against the backdrop of sandy beaches at the epicenter of the surf/skate culture. Orange County natives, both designers combined similar desires to construct clothes that would appeal to the common masses while being able to provoke people to think about what they were wearing.
Eight years later, the L-R-G tree logo has become widespread—you can spot it almost anywhere you go—it’s instantly recognizable. Everyone, from skateboarders to hip-hop stars, ballers, celebrities and that kid next to them, is dressed and dripping with those trees. With categories that include everything from men’s and women’s apparel, champagne holders, snowboards, tents, a custom Sidekick 3 and custom vehicle—you can only fathom what’s going to emerge next from the L-R-G syndicate.
Robert Wright co-founded the LRG Clothing brand in 1999. Wright brought valuable work experience to the business, which Bevacqua did not have. Wright previously worked with urban skater brands, which helped shape the scope of streetwear clothing in Hip Hop culture. It is obvious even today that those early experiences of Wright changed the total outcome of the Lifted Research Group in every way.
Originally known to some industry friends as "MC Robert Wright", it's obvious this co-founder also had a history in Hip Hop culture. This is perhaps what drove the brand so strong into the music genre's most popular trendsetter's closets and day to day wear. His idea of what fashion trends can be and should be, helped reshape the scope of the Lifted Research Group goals.
