Blueprint was born in 1996. It was the idea of Dan Magee and a few other skaters in the U.K. There wasn’t really much going on at the time in the U.K as far as brands and industry. Originally there was a company that was started in 1994 called Panic. It proved to be quite successful from the upstart and after a year or so Blueprint thought they should start something else that would have a different look and feel from Panic. That was when they started Blueprint. Panic was originally owned by the same guy who was the money behind Blueprint. Over time a lot of the skaters who rode for Panic eventually ended up riding for Blueprint. At first Blueprint was just thought of as a sister company, but before too long Panic was phased out and Blueprint started to thrive and was able to survive on its own.
Over the next decade Blueprint helped pave the way for what the U.K skateboard industry is today. It allowed people to realize that they could start something themselves, have a team of mates, and make great product. Skaters in the U.K could finally skate, be sponsored, and actually survive with an income from being a pro skater.
