The Return of Ghetto Child

Posted by Route One on 21st December 2016

Those of you with over a decade of skateboarding under your belt will no doubt be familiar with the name 'Ghetto Child'. Those of you with more than two will barely be able to contain your excitement at the relaunch of the brand and those of you relatively new to skateboarding won't know what the hell all the fuss is about, so let us explain.

Formed in 1997 by the triple threat force of Chad Muska, Tom Penny and Sean Sheffey, nothing in the wheel game came close in terms of cool factor over the next few years. Whilst younger heads may know the long and proud history of brands like Spitfire and Bones, the Ghetto Child name somehow fell into the forgotten echelons of skate history and remained all but a distant memory once production ceased.

However, as announced by Ride back in September, Penny and Muska are back at the helm with one heck of a team in tow (Herman, Pudwill, Szafranski and more) and this little interview sees the team talk about everything that excites them in this brand new chapter:

"Ghetto Child is more than just wheels, it started as a friendship and the goal was (and always will be) to make quality products for skateboarders across the world. So, take notice when you see Ghetto Child because we're always on the move!"

With such a heavy team, I am excited to see the return of one of the coolest brands!
