Eric Koston and Nike SB’s relationship reaches new heights with the release of the Nike SB x Eric Koston Air Max 95. Following the success of SB’s first foray into the world of the 95, the man who helped make it all happen now lands his own signature colourway of the iconic Air Max silhouette to celebrate the shoe’s 30th anniversary. Whilst the connection of AM95s to skateboarding isn’t immediately evident, its influence on skate footwear is undeniable. Colourways, mesh panels, lacing systems, reflective details, and more, have all inspired skate shoe design for decades.

A true legend of the game, Eric Koston has shaped modern street skateboarding as we know it, defined by individualism, curiosity, and constant progression. From turning pro in 1992, to featuring in some of the most iconic skate videos of all time (Yeah Right!, Goldfish, and Nike SB Chronicles Vol. 3, to name a few), Koston’s journey has been one of relentless evolution. Now, with three signature Nike SB models already under his belt, this latest collaboration represents the latest chapter in his story of skateboarding innovation.

After a trip to the UK, where the 95 (affectionately called a “110”) was everywhere, Koston and co. fell in love with the silhouette and adopted it as their chill shoe of choice. Koston’s affection for the 95 never faded, and, working closely with the Nike SB design team, he’s reimagined the model not just as a chiller, but as a fully functional skate shoe.

Koston’s take lands in an Obsidian / Speed Yellow / Midnight Navy colourway, echoing the classic Nike “Michigan” palette. The 95’s iconic skeletal-inspired lines take centre stage, but this SB version replaces the original synthetic materials with premium suede and leather uppers for durability, reinforced with additional stitching for longevity. A nod to Koston’s Thai heritage appears on the outer toe cap, a bespoke decal spelling Nike in Thai script. On the tongues, classic Air Max branding sits on the left, while a remixed Koston logo appears on the right.

Beyond aesthetics, the Nike SB x Eric Koston Air Max 95 delivers the same functional updates introduced in the Summit White and Cactus Flower colourway. Built from the ground up, the SB edition trims weight and refines both insole and tread for improved boardfeel and flexibility. You’re effectively skating on top of the iconic Air bubble, with reduced foam and updated lugs with herringbone tread for board feel and traction across the black and yellow outsole.

Nike SB and Koston have made changes where they matter most, boosting skate performance without compromising the Air Max 95’s unmistakable DNA. The body remains true to the original, but it’s what’s under the hood that counts.

A collection of accompanying apparel joins Koston’s signature 95 colourway, bringing 90s vibes and twists on Nike classics, including the Nike SB Koston Crew - Dark Grey Heather and Nike SB Koston L/S Flannel Shirt - Midnight Navy/Speed Yellow.
