Vans: Curren Caples Bristol Launch Event

May 2025 by Harry Stephens

Raising the bar in vulcanised skate shoe performance, Curren Caples lands his first signature shoe for Vans. It’s almost a shock that a skater of Curren’s stature hasn’t had a signature shoe yet, but it was certainly worth the wait.

To celebrate the release of Curren’s debut pro shoe, we were honoured to be approached by Vans to co-host an event, with some of their top skaters including Diego Todd, Jordan Thackeray, Jamie Platt, Willow Voges Fernandes, Chris Pfanner and Helena Long joining Curren here in Bristol.

So, with the help of Vans Europe, we headed to Shredenhams (after a quick stop at Dean Lane) for a jam-packed event with everything from cash for tricks to the introduction of the sickest wallride transition from Wheelscape (thanks for the super quick turnaround!) Shaun Currie brought the hype, MCing the event, whilst Ben Rowley (A.K.A @benny2tone) took to the decks and kept the vibes high.

Not straying too far away from their roots, the Curren is reminiscent of some of Vans’ most established models, bringing an Authentic and Era feel with a tougher construction and elevated tech. Curren’s first signature model is a true Vans classic in the making.

The CURREN silhouette builds on the masterful skate-ready construction that Vans are renowned for in his search for vulcanised perfection. A customised outsole pattern with Vans Sidestripe detailing is optimised forgrip and boardfeel with the tried and tested SICKSTICK™ rubber compound. The clean upper is reinforced with DURACAP™ underlays to extend the life of the shoe, whilst the POPCUSH™ insole delivers supreme impact protection.

The CURREN doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it just makes it better. Sit back and enjoy a little round up of the event, courtesy of Will McLeod.
