In a world often blighted by the notion of quick fixes, short cuts and instant gratification, loyalty will always remain the ultimate currency. And it's because of his loyalty (and, of course, his insane ability on a skateboard) that Curren Caples has been rewarded with the ultimate accolade by Vans; his very own signature shoe.Travelling the world on their dime to promote its release, Curren and select members of the Vans crew hit the southern counties of this sceptered Isle last month and we were lucky enough to be invited along for the ride.Kicking celebrations off at Bristol's frankly amazing 'The Wave,' we managed to snatch half an hour with the man of the moment to discuss the shoe, his relationship with Geoff Rowley, getting on FA and a whole lot more!
Maintaining Vans strangle-hold on the very best of this week's skate content, Baker's Tristan 'T Funk' Funkhauser has dropped a part (ably supported by Zach Allen and more) in 'Give me a Break' and, good golly, it has to be some of the most mind-blowing/face-melting/insert superlative of your choice skateboarding we've seen in a VERY long time. Even Black Ninja would struggle to find fault with his oldest adversary in this (famous last words obvs; video with numerous vi-o-lations no doubt incoming!).Of course there is more than just T-Funk to this Fel produced 16 minute shock-to-the-system (the aforementioned Zach Allen comes correct and Rowan Zorilla never disappoints) but, in time honoured footballing parlance, "at the end of the day" this is all about the madman of Woodland Hills. Click that play button if you still remain somehow unconvinced!
Finally this week, and on a Baker adjacent tip, we close things up with everyone's favourite "Big Boy," the one and only Jamie Foy.Two time winner of Thrasher's prestigious SOTY award, Deathwish's Jamie took his crew over to Europe to celebrate his win and, as is always the case with these SOTY trips, the resultant footage is 50% good times, 50% hammers! With a focus on the crew rather than a designated list of sponsors (though we do get a strong New Balance representation) this is the reality of a skate trip with the boys, it just so happens that "the boys" are the best skaters in the world. It must be nice!
