THE SOUR SOLUTION 3,3

A Fritte Söderström–produced Sour video? If there’s a greater promise in all of skateboarding, we’ve yet to hear it. And we’re not sure we could handle it anyway!

Though billed as “a third of a skate video,” and therefore not technically a follow-up to 2022’s Sour III, Sour 3,3 is far more than a throwaway web clip. So, for the purposes of this here text, we're gonna hold it in the esteem of a skate video proper and celebrate its release with the appropriate fervour.

Naturally, the filming is breathtaking; nobody captures lines quite like Fritte, and of course the skateboarding is that perfect mix of mini spot and tasteful tech. Sour have never aimed for the X Games crowd so this is skateboarding for the true connoisseur - subtle, creative and deeply considered.

Quite simply, this is undoubtedly the best thing we've seen in as long as we can remember and the promise is completely fulfilled. We just hope we don't have to wait to longs for thirds two and three!

MICROWAVE | Full Length Volcom Skate Film

Nine full years passed between Volcom’s Holy Stokes and From High Time to Prime Time. It’s taken barely four months for them to follow that up with Microwave, their latest full-length. Not sure what’s in the water over at Volcom Stone HQ, but something has very clearly hit the productivity switch!

With a roster that runs from Route One favourite Simon Bannerot, through the excellent Liv Lovelace, to Milton Martinez, Harry Lintell and beyond, this steady stream of output from the Costa Mesa camp is starting to feel like the new normal and we're already looking forward to another immanent content drop!

Whether Bannerot can actually grant our wishes is another matter, wizard status or not. The quality of his footage here (and across the team) is so high that we’re willing to be patient for the next instalment… just maybe not that patient. Somewhere a little closer to four months than nine years would do nicely!

DC Skateboarding Presents: Marseille It Ain't So

After a “third of a skate video” and a proper full-length, it felt right to round things off with something a little lighter — a dessert to Sour’s starter and Volcom’s sizeable main course if you will. And what better sweet than this tasty tour morsel from DC, as the cream of their team escape the winter blues and soak up the Marseille sun?

You know the score: a group of lads cooped up for months in dimly lit indoor training facilities suddenly set loose on the Med. So, naturally, they go off.

With John Shanahan, Will Marshall, Jamir Brown and Kevin Bilyeu joined by the brand's European contingent, France's oldest City takes a very modern seeing to from the freshest shoes in the biz.

What more could you want? Other than maybe an actual pudding...
