The Second Coming of Brandon Turner

Jan 2021 by Route One
Brandon Turner is old. Not in real world terms of course, at 39 he's still a good few years off middle age. But in skateboarding terms the dude is old AF and, in theory at least, well past his prime. And whilst the peers of his heyday have settled into careers in real estate or slappying kerbs, Brandon is making up for lost time.
See, back in the early 00's Brandon was the child prodigy everyone was talking about. Part of the infamous Shortys team and under the Muska's wing, Li'l B was a superstar in the making. Then the partying became less of a post skate celebration and more of a full time occupation, leading to a horrific bridge fall leg break and eventually time inside for a series of DUIs. Then, in 2012, Brandon Turner "came back" with Sk8Mafia and he's been on a tear ever since.
This summer Jenkem accompanied him for a week or so, covering his back story and culminating in the documentation of the kind of legendary trick pro's perform in their late teens and dine off for an entire career. At a time in life where the legacy is generally more important than the now, the San Diego legend switch hardflipped one of the biggest proving grounds in the game and reminded the skate world that age is just a number. Well, it is if your name is Brandon Turner!
