Aimu Yamazuki: The Route One Interview

Arguably one of the most naturally gifted individuals ever to pick up a board, we were thrilled to sit down with the man they call "Japantwuan Dixon" and pick his brain.

We're talking, of course, about Primitive Skateboards' Aimu Yamazuki, and it was the recent visit of the international New Balance team, for their Running Numbers tour, that facilitated our chat. Having followed the entire NB Numeric squad on a street mission around our nation's capital (core memory unlocked, for sure), we eventually managed to sneak Aimu away for a riverside chinwag to see whether he really is as happy as the footage suggests.

As it turns out, the smile from Osaka really is every bit as stoked on life as his perma-grin would have you believe. And he can't believe his luck - even if he admits he finds it hilarious people refer to him as "Tom Penny 2.0" and the aforementioned linguistical play on Antwuan's name.
