Stomping Ground - Brighton
In each issue of the Route One Magazine weâll be visiting the cities, which are home to R1 retail stores and the personalities who work there. Our store managers will take you on a tour of the spots, they feel make their town awesome, to bring you a true insiders guide.
In the first issue we spend some time with Jak, manager of our Brighton store, exploring his favourite spots throughout the city.
Jak Hutchings, R1 Brighton
JK: Iâm 29 years old and have been running Route One Brighton with my assistant manager Sammi-Louise for the past 6 years.
Sussex born and raised, my biggest passion is music and film. Iâve been involved in the Brighton music scene since the age of 16, when I played my first ever gig at The Concorde 2, drumming for my punk/hardcore band âDropped At Birthâ.
After unsuccessfully trying to make my mark on the live music circuit, I got stuck into the electronic music scene DJing Electro and DrumâNâBass and continue to promote various club nights around the city.
Brighton has a bit of everything â from the beach to the live music scene, the lanes of independent stores to a jumping club life. I love living here and proud to be a Brighton resident.
Tattooing At Gunpoint:
Located on Hove seafront, Tattooing At Gunpoint is an award winning studio run by the irrepressible duo Scrow & Wurz. Wurz has been a family friend for years so I canât imagine going anywhere else for my tats.
Tattooing At Gunpoint, 3 Victoria Terrace, Hove, BN3 2WB.
Route One, 3 Bond Street, The Lanes, Brighton BN1 1RD
