From Cinema to Static Cam: Cromer, Burleigh & the Soul of Skateboarding
Jul 2025 by Route One
Skateboarding is many different things to many different people; to the Nyjah's of this world it's an opportunity to "send it," to the freestylers on Tiktok it permits never ending avenues of technical innovation, to aging bowl skaters it's feeling the gyroscopic pull of the curvature of the terrain beneath their wheels. Whoever you are, skateboarding is exclusively yours and how you choose to interpret it.
Seamus Foster sees skateboarding as an artform, a four wheeled paint brush that, when paired with the perfect musical accompaniment, creates a beautiful picture able to evoke the most joyous feelings. Watching his brand new video 'Barking at the Knot' it's impossible (certainly for your humble author) to not see skateboarding as the ultimate way in which to spend time with your friends.
With a cast of Utah locals that you've never heard of, with a little added Spanky to whet your palette, this is what skateboarding is to Seamus Foster and we love it!

What better time for Zero to drop Brandon Burleigh's American Zero "tough cuts" than the weekend John Travolta appeared at a Grease reunion? The Danny Zuko of handrails brought us the collab we never knew we needed and his part, all doo-wop and quiffs, was one of the absolute stand outs of the whole of 2024.
Now, with the dulcet sounds of Garnett Mimms nothing but a memory, we get to enjoy Brandon's nominatively determined burly manoeuvres at their most raw. With vests, turned up jeans and more Bryl cream than an Elvis Presley look-a-like convention, this is Happy Days with handrails all over again!

Never mind hair lacquer, Brad Cromer is all about type you seal kerbs with and there are few things more relatable in modern skateboarding than self filming (even Tony Hawk has CupCam TM) and playing around on kerbs. Whether it's a hangover of Covid, the influence of Instagram or simply phone footage being preferable to Ty Evans style 4k steady-cam rigs, the authenticity of self-filming your latest #newlearn is as peak 2025 as it gets.
So when Krooked's Palm Beach Florida connection, one of the early mainstream adopters of the concept, drops a solo clip, we sit up and take notice (even if the footage of his cat Nate, poorly with large cell lymphoma, interspersed throughout hits us right in the feels).
From the aforementioned kerbs to a propped-up grate and bin combo, every clip is self filmed and every clip brings the hype. With the warm weather we're having right now it makes us wanna bite his steeze and bust out our version of Tony's cup!
